Description

Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Cream cheese glaze (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, buttermilk, milk, food coloring, vanilla extract, and melted butter until mixed.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture. Stir until just combined.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it.
  5. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
  6. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden brown.
  7. Serve warm with cream cheese glaze drizzled on top.

Notes

For dairy-free, substitute almond or oat milk and for gluten-free, use a gluten-free flour blend.
