- 1 lb Ground beef (80/20)
- 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or hot, casings removed)
- 1 Large onion, finely diced
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 28 oz Crushed tomatoes
- 12 oz Tomato paste
- 15 oz Tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp White sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp Dried basil
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 15 oz Ricotta cheese
- 1 Large egg
- 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 box Lasagna noodles (12–15 sheets)
- 1 lb Shredded Mozzarella cheese
- Extra fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add onion and garlic to the meat, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, white sugar, basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 30 minutes.
- Combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, and parsley in a separate bowl.
- Spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a lasagna dish.
- Layer noodles over the sauce, then spread the cheese filling, ensuring it reaches the edges.
- Repeat the layers, finishing with noodles topped with remaining meat sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let the lasagna stand for 10-15 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with fresh parsley.
